Check-ups

Catherine and Will went for their 3 year and 15 month checkups this week. Overall, everyone is very healthy, for which we are immensely thankful. Catherine is now about 37 inches tall (40%) and weighs just under 26 lbs (5%). Will is a little over 31 inches tall (60%) and weighs a little over 26 lbs (75%). They are both growing well, at their own pace and with different body types, but pretty consistently.

There was one small area of concern for Catherine. She has an umblical hernia above her belly button that she's had since birth, but it has never healed. At this point, it will probably not ever heal on its own, so we are going to see a pediatric surgeon about having it fixed. I think that's a pretty routine procedure and I really don't know many details yet. She doesn't even know anything about it yet and we figured we wouldn't worry her until we know something more definitive.

Will saw the allergist today for a checkup too. We are changing/increasing some of his medications for his allergy/asthma issues. He actually has seemed some better over the past 2 months, but if he gets a cold or any kind of upper respiratory thing he wheezes pretty badly. The intensity of each episode has gotten worse, even though they aren't that frequent. He's only had 2 episodes since October, but they both made me a little scared. So, he will now be using Pulmicort in his nebulizer (breathing treatment) twice a day and continue taking Zyrtec. We are also adding Singulair and Nasonex medicines to keep the upper respiratory issues under better control. The goal is to have him stable so that if he does get a cold, his body won't respond with wheezing or other issues. We also want him to be in a healthy situation before we head into spring with any seasonal allergy flareups.

Okay, that's enough medical updates. Here are a few cute pics from the last week:

Catherine and Will helping me make muffins one morning. They are more excited to lick the bowl than to eat the actual muffins.

Will loves, loves, loves to be outside, even if it is 20 degrees and freezing. Lately the only time I'll take him out is when I take Eli (the dog) out to potty. Will runs around the yard and especially loves running up and down the little hill in the front yard. He is always so sad when we go back in that he just lays down on the floor and cries. Hopefully warmer weather will be here soon so that he can have lots of outside play time.

Happy Birthday Maddyson and Kennedy

On Friday we celebrated my neices Maddyson's 7th birthday and Kennedy's 1st birthday! We had a great birthday party in Union at "Parties R Us" where they have inflatable slides and what-not, a Wii to play (Jay really liked that) and air hockey tables too.

Here's the birthday girl blowing out her candles. I can't believe Maddyson is 7!!

Kennedy enjoying her first birthday cake. She had it all over her legs by the time she was done. Such a cute mess!
We had lots of fun on the slides. Catherine felt more confident on these slides than she has at Monkey Joe's in Greenville because these weren't as crowded. And Will loved it. He didn't even want to eat his dinner because he kept going down the slides. He figured out how to crawl up there by himself and would slide down on his tummy. While everyone else was eating cupcakes and opening presents, Catherine and Will just kept sliding and sliding. They were very tired by the end of the party and both fell asleep on the way home. And Jay had a great time too. He said it was the best birthday party he's ever been to. Maybe we'll have his birthday party there one day :)

Feeding Myself

It's obvious that Will likes to eat and now he's intent on feeding himself. This is an important skill to learn, but it's messy in the process. It wasn't too bad when he just wanted to put a piece of food on the fork, but now he wants to hold the bowl of applesauce or yogurt and the spoon. We're having to take a lot of baths after meals these days!

Is it all gone?

Playing with Pressly

We kept our good friend's little girl Pressly this weekend while they were out of town for a wedding. Overall it was easier with three kids than I expected. Pressly really was easier to handle than my own 2 children. At times they weren't too excited about sharing my attention with her :) She is just a few months older than Will so it made me realize for a brief moment what it would have been like with twins! We had a lot of fun with her. She is a very sweet and cuddly girl.

We decided on Saturday afternoon to go for a walk. So we changed everyone's diapers/went potty, found socks, shoes, hats, gloves, and coats and 20 minutes later we were out the door. We stopped in the driveway for a quick picture and approximately 15 seconds later, it started pouring down the rain. Oh well, so much for the walk. So we went back inside and undressed all of the hats, gloves, and coats (while Catherine cried because she really wanted to go for a walk)!

Pressly was feeding Catherine some goldfish crackers
Bathtime started out great--3 kids in the tub....no problem....
until Will decided to help. here he is in action trying to "wash" Pressly's hair, but really he just banged her in the head with the cup. She then cried and was not interested in the bathtub any more. Poor little girl, Will was just trying to help!

Christmas in WV

We finished our Christmas celebration by spending almost a week in West Virginia.
It's always great to be there since we only get to visit Huntington about twice a year.

The whole family at church together

Catherine got some Fancy Nancy dress up clothes for Christmas.
She looked fabulous!
Will's favorite gift was his blue chair. Now he can stop
climbing all over Catherine's pink one.
Catherine wore the dress up clothes even in her pajamas to color.
It was a great week to just relax and enjoy lots of family time.

We hope you enjoyed your Christmas celebration as well.
Happy New Year!

Christmas at my Mom's

We went to my mom's house for Christmas night.

We tried and tried to get a family pic of the 4 of us and this is the best we got!
oh well, we'll try again next year :)

my mom and Mr. B
We had a wild and crazy Christmas dance party after dinner. Nothing's as much
fun as singing "Joy to the World" and "Jingle Bells" and dancing your heart out with
the kids. It was the perfect way to end Christmas day!
Will enjoyed cuddling with cousin Riley.

Christmas at my Dad's

I'm just now getting the rest of the Christmas pics put up since we were in WV this past week.

Here's the rest of our Christmas celebration:
We were in Union for most of Christmas day. We had lunch at my dad's.
The big Christmas gifts at my dad's involved wheels.
Catherine got a tricycle and Will got a 4-wheeler.
Both are lots of fun!

Maddyson (my neice) and Papa (my dad) with her new bicycle
We all had lots of help opening our presents from my neice Brooklynn (almost 3).
Here she is helping my sister Amanda and neice Kennedy (almost 1).
