Last week (Sept 27), Anna turned 18 months. I can't believe she's already a year and a half. She's definitely in full toddler mode and only has a couple of little baby traits left. That's always bittersweet to me, but we are having so much fun watching her personality and independence continue to develop. She now weighs a little over 22 lbs and is 33 inches tall (long and lean). She is learning to say more words. We're practicing family names a lot and she is finally saying "mama" and "dada" on a more consistent basis. "Eli" is still her favorite word to say. We also hear "up", "go", "more", "please" and "ok". She is becoming quite the daddy's girl, is transitioning from 2 to 1 naps some days, and cries every time we do put her in her crib for a nap or bedtime. She likes to go on walks in the neighborhood, feed Eli his dog treats, empty the dishwasher, help put away laundry, play babies with Catherine, and wrestle with Will.
She had lots of fun last week at the apple orchard for Catherine and Will's field trip. (more on that in another post) She really thinks she is one of the big kids like Catherine and Will.
She really enjoyed celebrating Will's birthday. Even though Will didn't approve of the cake pops, Anna did. She ate hers and his. This was a little bit of a test for her milk issues. A few weeks ago I rubbed milk on the back of her neck and this time she did not break out in hives!! We are hoping this means that she is outgrowing the allergy. We're starting to give her foods with milk cooked in it and she seems to be doing okay. The day she ate 2 cake pops may have been a bit much though, because she ended up with an upset tummy. I'm anxious to just let her try foods, but we still need to take it slowly as we introduce milk into her diet. And yes, she still likes to make her "cheese" smile!
She also really enjoyed Will's birthday party. The child is fearless on slides and such. She just climbs right up and slides down as fast as she can. She also loves to swing and just be crazy. She was so tired by the time the party was done that she was just falling over as she walked.
We have continued to monitor her head size. We've had some concerns about it increasing from the 40% to 60% to 80-90% over the last few months. We've checked it multiple times in the last 6 weeks and at her check up last week, we actually got a measurement 1/2 cm smaller than we did the previous time! There's always some slight discrepancy with measuring wiggly heads but we're taking it as a great sign of reassurance and answered prayers from God. We'll keep monitoring her head growth over the next few months, and as long as it levels out at the 80-90% we shouldn't have any reason to be concerned.
We are so thankful for the blessing of Anna. She brings such joy and happiness to our home.
