Teething Pains

Will is working on a few new teeth coming in. They've been causing him a lot of discomfort the past few days. I've been trying to figure out what will help alleviate the pain a little (other than my regular default of Tylenol).

I gave him a biter biscuit the other day. He loved it, but as Catherine declared, Will was a "whole big mess" when he was done. (look at those blue eyes too!)
He also loves chewing on cool, wet washcloths.

Anybody else have suggestions of things to try (other than your normal teething toys; they don't seem to help)?

We've had super results with Hyland's teething tablets. (They have them at publix on the baby care aisle.) They're a homeopathic remedy and whenever Greta teethes they seem to do a super job relieving her pain quickly and helping her relax.

A suggestion that was made to me is an amber teething necklace. The child doesn't chew on it but wears it as the amber supposedly has natural qualities that help the pain. I can't speak from experience but I know some people who swear by them. Whether you want to stick a necklace on a boy...well that's another story. :-)

have you given Catherine the yougurt sticks yet? you can put them in the freezer - good alternative to popsicles. all of that to say that he could chew on those before they melt - course if he already has teeth they would eventually break the plastic wrapper and if you're not giving him yogurt yet you may not want him to eat it.
stella liked the frozen bathcloths as well. i also put icecubes in the little mesh food holders they hold on to and suck on - that might work.
just fyi about the hylands teething tablets.....i gave them to sms before i asked my pediatrician about them and when i did seek his approval, he didn't approve. i know he fell asleep each time i gave him one. you might want to ask your pediatrician for an opinion.
hmmmm....not very helpful, huh? I'll keep thinking. sorry.
